The Physio Works is a physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation specialising in sports injuries. We also treat general work related injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, and more complex acute and chronic conditions. Based in Cardrona, Peebles we endeavour to treat both the local and Borders wide communities.
On your initial physio consultation I take an in-depth injury, and general medical history, along with lifestyle, sports, and your goals to help me form an overall understanding of you and your needs. This information is extremely useful in helping diagnose your injury along with planning your treatment pathway. This may result in referring you to a GP, Consultant or helping you getting an X-ray, MRI or CT scan, as further investigations may be required alongside your physio treatment.
The initial consultation will also include a treatment in the form of manual and exercise therapy if appropriate, along with an injury diagnosis. I’ll explain how your injury may have occurred and the tissues that may be affected in more detail in the form of pictures, videos, and verbal explanations.
We will also discuss how best to manage your expectations and set any goals your have. I believe giving you knowledge and understanding about your condition helps you to better understand what may have caused the injury in the first place and how to prevent a recurrence in the future.
Insurances companies covered:
Axa, Aviva, Cigna, WPA
Physio sessions will typically have some manual, hands-on physiotherapy treatment but may also include some exercise therapy in the gym. I will guide you through an exercise program and coach you on the correct exercise technique to help prevent injury and maximise performance. I then provide an exercise rehabilitation plan to work on in your own time between your physiotherapy sessions.
The exercise rehab side of the treatment is an important, and often neglected, part of the process and can help speed up the healing time. When required, and appropriate, I may suggest follow up sessions to help guide you through your rehabilitation and provide more time for on-going education and treatment. This phase teaches you about correct loading of the tissues to enable you to return to the sports, activities and lifestyle you aspire to at the appropriate timeframe, and will give you confidence to self-manage your body in the future.
At this stage I don’t accept direct payments from insurance companies.
Either call or fill in a patient request form that are both located on the Contacts link.
I run my practice out of the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel in the town of Cardrona in the Tweed Valley. The practice is located downstairs in the Spa area opposite the gym.
I do also offer home visits for an additional fee. If you would prefer this, please get in touch to discuss.
